Be careful what you wish for Rex

Day 58 23:30
By Dawnuss

Rex Newmark is a force to be reckoned with in the BB house. Opinionated, direct, honest and often smug, he is a truly original and entertaining housemate. Expect the unexpected.

The 24 year old Chef is a powerful player who remains largely unchallenged. Mikey has stepped up to the plate by telling Rex to stop whining about leaving and just go if he so badly wants to exit the BB house. Lisa too confronted Rex about his sarcasm and snide remarks stating “You won’t get away with it with me”

His response to Mikey’s attack was to go into the diary room and promptly nominate him.

Housemates seem to direct most of their anger and disapproval at Mohamed when Rex would be a more fitting target.

He often refuses to get out of bed when the alarm rings, and once again Mikey was not going to let him get away with it, by throwing a glass of water over him.

Rex is the biggest wind-up merchant - from sabotaging Jen’s painting, to constant verbal attacks on Rachael and others, to accusing housemates of acting up on their VT’s, to ordering 57 special tokens, housemates let him get away with murder. By shouting loud enough and long enough he thinks housemates will believe everything he says and it appears to have worked – with housemates questioning their personalities and behaviour regarding their VT’s. Yet Rex is quick to apologize when he has caused upset, telling Lisa he did not mean to cause offence.

Perhaps they feel he is untouchable having evaded eviction several times, fearing the public may turn against them if they confront the naughty Chef.

It is interesting that Rex is the only housemate to have permanently lived in heaven.

Rex has remained resolute throughout his time in the house, he is unflappable, and he does not seek or need approval from others.

The shopping task was a stroke of genius - who else would have the brains or guts to go through with only spending £20 on food and the rest on 57 tokens.

Rex’s only weakness appears to be his girlfriend. When Lisa and Luke failed to pick out Nicole from the line up he was not amused. For once his face revealed his discontent when BB stated that it was girl no 6 they had chosen as the most beautiful, whilst using words “common” and “Orange” to describe his princess.

Why does Rex feel it necessary to constantly tell all that his girlfriend is the most beautiful woman in the world, or the most stunning girl you’ll ever see?, He even claimed she was the best looking in the BB9 house, though Dale made a lame attempt at rebuke by stating that Jen was.

Rex says that he is happy that Nicole is in the house but is unsure how he feels about her being a housemate. How will his behaviour change while she is there, if indeed it will.

If the housemates are clever they may see that Rex could be at his most vulnerable with his girlfriend in the house, but will they make the most of the opportunity
